Glycine Pure Powder – Pharmacokinetic (pK) Study

Bioavailability study

Glycine is a non-essential amino acid that acts as a precursor of creatine and supports glycogen storage.* Three healthy adult volunteers 22 to 55 years old participated in a clinical trial to study the bioavailability of glycine, a dietary supplement from NOW® (item # 0225). Plasma glycine was measured at baseline, and 30 minutes, 1 and 3 hours following oral administration of 1 g of glycine powder.

Results

Average plasma glycine peaked 30 minutes after ingestion, 54 % over the baseline level. Average glycine concentration returned to the baseline level 3 hours post-supplementation. The study confirms the exceptional bioavailability of NOW®Glycine Pure Powder.
