Pantethine 300 mg - Pharmacokinetic (pK) Study

Bioavailability study

Pantethine is a form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which plays a role in the formation of coenzyme A (CoA).* It also helps to support proper cholesterol production and a healthy mode of fat storage in the liver.* Three healthy adult volunteers 30 to 52 years old participated in a clinical trial to study the bioavailability of Pantethine, a dietary supplement from NOW® (item # 0487). Serum pantothenic acid was measured at baseline, and at 1, 2, 3 and 6 hours following oral administration of 1 softgel providing 300 mg of Pantethine.

Results

Average serum pantothenic acid increased one hour after administration, and peaked two hours following administration, reaching 321% above baseline level. Average pantothenic acid concentration remained elevated for the duration of the study, 134% above the baseline level six hours post-supplementation. The study confirms the exceptional bioavailability of NOW® Pantethine.
