Erin Ton
Hey! My name is Erin Ton
I am a professional mountain runner and endurance athlete. I am relatively new to the sport of running, and my primary focus early on in life was academics. I graduated with a degree in government from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 2020 during the pandemic. My plan was to take one gap year and then go to law school. In the meantime, I moved back to my home state of Colorado and discovered a passion for running in the mountains, specifically the Colorado “14ers” (peaks over 14,000 feet). I noticed that I had potential in the sport when I began to earn Strava crowns and FKTs (Fastest Known Time) speed records on local peaks. I felt like the mountains were where I belonged, and I decided to go all in on the sport instead of going back to school.
While I occasionally race, my primary focus is on speed records both in the US and internationally. To date, I have logged 119 FKTs on the site, making me the highest ranked woman by quantity and 5th overall. I love the elements of creativity and adventure involved in speed records. Instead of being told where to run in a race, projecting big mountains allows for a feeling of intimacy and expertise with a route. My records range from sub-hour redline efforts to 24+ hour and multi-day efforts. I am driven by a curiosity to explore natural spaces around me and what my physical and mental limits are in these spaces. I hope to inspire others to get outside and challenge themselves in the outdoors in whatever way is meaningful to them.
