What is D-Flame™?

NOW® D-Flame™ is a blend of complementary herbs that may help to support a healthy response to normal physiological stress, and does so through its ability to support the proper activities of key mediators involved in this response.*

The maintenance of a natural balance of these mechanisms is known to support healthy joint and cardiovascular function.* By supporting the maintenance of this natural balance, the botanical components in D-Flame™ may help to alleviate occasional minor aches and pains resulting from overexertion or typical daily stress.*

What are D-Flame™’s ingredients and what do they do?

D-Flame™ is formulated with the following herbs and botanicals:

Holy Basil Extract (Ocimum sanctum)

Holy basil is revered as a sacred plant in Ayurveda, the ancient traditional herbal system of India. In modern studies holy basil has been shown to possess powerful adaptogenic properties.* An adaptogen is a substance with the ability to enhance the body’s healthy response to normal daily life stress.* In addition, scientific studies have demonstrated that holy basil may support healthy carbohydrate metabolism and already normal glucose management.*

Turmeric Extract (Curcuma longa)

Curcumin is the major bioactive component found in the roots of turmeric (Curcuma longa), a plant belonging to the ginger family. Turmeric has been used as a coloring and flavoring agent in south Asian cuisines for centuries, and it has also been recommended by traditional Ayurvedic herbalists for thousands of years. Curcumin has been extensively researched by modern scientists for its various biological activities.

Ginger Extract (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger is a plant native to southeast Asia that has a long history of use by traditional herbalists and is commonly used as a culinary spice. Ginger has more recently been shown to support digestive health and helps to temporarily relieve mild nausea and upset stomach.* In addition, ginger possesses a wide range of powerful, free radical-quenching compounds.*

Green Tea (Camellia sinensis)

Green tea extract (GTE) has numerous bioactive compounds, including polyphenols and catechins, which are known for their many health-supporting properties.* These compounds have been found to help protect against oxidative stress and may also help to maintain a healthy response to normal metabolic stress.*

Boswellin (Boswellia serrata)

Boswellia extract is a standardized extract of the Boswellia tree, a resinous botanical that yields frankincense and has been used for centuries by traditional Ayurvedic herbalists. The bioactive constituents of boswellia extract, boswellic acids, have been shown in scientific studies to affect key enzymes involved in the maintenance of healthy tissues.* Through these mechanisms, boswellia extract may help to support the immune system’s balanced response to the typical wear and tear of everyday life.*

Bromelain

Bromelain is an enzyme derived from the stem of the pineapple plant that has protein-digesting properties.* When taken with food, bromelain can help to support healthy digestion; when taken between meals, it may help to support joint comfort and may help to relieve temporary soreness that is associated with muscle overuse.*
