My name is Samantha Calderon. I am an elite runner currently based in Boulder, although I grew up and have lived most of my life in Minnesota. I was a soccer player and dancer until I joined track on a whim in high school. I fell in love with running distance. After a successful high school running career, I continued my career at the NCAA DII level at St. Cloud State University in Minneapolis.
In college I set school records in the 5k (16:56) and 10k (34:48) and was a 3x NCAA All-American. I was happy with my collegiate career but I knew there was more for me!
I got married after graduation and my husband and I moved to Boulder. I now train under an amazing elite coach, Brad Hudson, as I pursue my dreams of qualifying for the 2020 Marathon Olympic Trials. 2020 Summer Olympics Marathon Trials Qualifier (Ran Houston Marathon 1/20/18: 2:44:44)
My Fave Post-Run Fall Breakfast (or, just simply a cozy breakfast idea!)
⅓ cup NOW Real Food® Oats
½ cup maple water (or, add a few drops of BetterStevia® Maple Liquid Sweetener to plain water)
2 tablespoons NOW Real Food® Chia Seeds
1 scoop NOW® Sports Organic Vanilla Plant Protein
1 tablespoon pumpkin spice
1 tablespoon almond butter
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
Mix all ingredients into a small container. Or my favorite tip - use a leftover nut butter jar that isn’t quite empty yet. It’s a great way to get the last drops of goodness out of the jar!
