My name is Norris Frederick and I started my athletic career as a basketball player in high school, although my coach suggested I join the track team to improve my speed and jumping ability. Then track took off. By the end of my high school career, i had won five state titles, three in the high jump and two in the long jump. I was also invited to the Junior Olympics where I won the gold medal in the men’s high jump. When I left high school I was ranked among the best high school athletes in the country, which helped me to win Washington State Gatorade Athlete of the year. Throughout my high school career I set two national records in the high jump and long jump, and made my very first World Championship team where I placed seventh in the high jump and eleventh in the long jump.
I attended the University of Washington on a full Track & Field scholarship. At the University of Washington I became an 11x NCAA All American, a 5x Conference Champion, and 3x West Region Male Athlete of the Year, and the most decorated athlete in Washington State history. I was able to accomplish all of this while earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics and my Master’s Degree in Marketing.
Upon graduation from the University of Washington in 2008, I became a professional Track & Field athlete, and have been a 3x indoor bronze medalist for Team USA. My outstanding work ethic in and outside my sport has enabled me to consistently be ranked among the best athletes in the world, and I'm determined to represent Team USA in Rio.
