Andrea Nunez-Smith

Elite Triathlete

Austin, Texas

Hi, I am Andrea Nunez-Smith, and I am a 22-year old competitive triathlete from Austin, Texas. I am currently in school at The University of Arizona and am a Communications major and nutrition minor. I grew up swimming competitively from 4-18 years old and switched over to triathlons. I have competed in tri’s for four years now. When I started triathlons I was eager to race a 70.3 (half ironman), so jumped right in and was able to qualify for the World Championships as the youngest athlete there. After competing and getting more into the sport I started to learn about draft legal racing and ITU (International Triathlon Union); same sport, but a different style of racing! Draft legal triathlon is the style that is performed in the Olympics, something extremely fun to watch and race. I have started to train towards draft legal racing and mix it with non-draft races. I am hoping to earn my pro card and getting to race as a pro in the sport I love.

Growing up swimming I was able to gain the experience of coaching my club team; I fell in love helping others and encouraging them to conquer things they didn’t think they could. I have been coaching swimming for about six years now and recently got certified as a USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach. I hope to encourage and coach beginner runners, triathletes, and swimmers to work towards setting a goal and achieving it.

As an athlete, nutrition is a critical component of success. I fuel well for not only my sport, but for my health, happiness, and just because I feel better. As a nutrition minor I have learned how important it is to be able to fuel your body with the best and highest quality foods/products. Training 20 hours a week it is crucial that I am fueling my body with clean and quality food. I have been using NOW products for four years now and absolutely love them. Knowing that what I am putting into my body is clean and safe is super important to me, and NOW is a brand I can trust.
