
GMP Certification
The Natural Products Association (formerly NNFA) has notified NOW® Foods, Bloomingdale, IL that its manufacturing facility is recertified as an "A-rated" GMP facility for another three years. This follows a rigorous inspection by an auditor for the Natural Products Association.NOW Foods 200,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with complete Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems and processes has been GMP certified by NPA/NNFA since 2000. NOWs standard operating procedures include sampling and testing incoming materials according to set specifications, inspecting manufacturing processes, and testing finished products to set specifications. Test methods include organoleptic evaluation, physical testing, chemical identity and potency testing by the companys in-house state-of-the-science analytical testing lab, as well as microbiological testing by NOW Foods in-house rapid analysis microbiological lab.
As an example of the companys analytical expertise, the International AOAC Official Method for glucosamine in dietary supplements was developed by NOW Foods scientists and has been used in the companys Quality Control program for five years.
