You may have heard recent news reports that some milk products in China have been contaminated with melamine and some pet foods made in China have also been adulterated with melamine.  We would like to take this opportunity to assure our consumers that NOW products do not contain melamine. 

Does NOW test its product ingredients for melamine?

Yes, NOW has testing procedures in place to ensure that its ingredients are not contaminated with melamine. Shown below are the results of recent testing on our rice protein, which confirmed that it does not contain melamine. 
 

How does NOW test for melamine?

NOW’s professional staff uses sophisticated laboratory equipment to test for melamine, going beyond what most dietary supplement manufacturers do to ensure product safety. We use HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography), which tests specifically for melamine. Melamine absence is confirmed by the test results showing the absence of the two melamine peaks – Ammelide A and Melamine A.

 

Do any of NOW’s dairy ingredients come from China?

No.  We have confirmed that none of our dairy ingredients come from China.
