Do any of your teas contain any of the 8 common allergens (wheat, dairy, soy, nuts, eggs, or fish)?
All of our teas are made without any of the 8 major common allergens including wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, and shellfish.

What are the Pesticide contents on Teas?
Our teas are tested and within acceptable limits for pesticides established by industry standards.

What are the Heavy Metal Levels in Teas?
Our teas are tested and within acceptable limits for heavy metal content in-line with industry standards, such as limits set by the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) for its members (Heavy Metals are generally considered to be lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic).

Have Teas been oxidized?
Black tea is always oxidized because of the fermentation process that it undergoes, which gives it that distinct dark color. Oolong tea is partially fermented/oxidized due to a similar process. Green tea and Herb teas are not typically fermented and subject to that oxidative process, so typically contain more polyphenols.

Do Teas contain glutamic acid?
NOW does not have hidden MSG, or similar protein molecules containing glutamates, in the natural flavors used in our teas”.

What process is used to produce Decaffeinated Tea?
Teas are decaffeinated using a CO2 (carbon dioxide) process. Two of the major advantages of the CO2 process are that it does not leave chemical residue and has minimal effect on the flavor and beneficial compounds inherent in the tea.

Should you add milk to Hibiscus Teas?
We do not recommend adding milk to teas containing hibiscus because hibiscus is naturally acidic and will likely cause the milk to curdle.

What are your tea pouches made of?
Our tea pouches are made of a water jet aperture paper consisting of a specially selected blend of cellulose and thermoplastic fibers which has been patterned for optimum tea particle retention. All are components of the pouches are food grade and safe for the intended use.

How are your tea pouches sealed? Are any glues used?
The materials used in our tea pouches are designed to allow pouches to be heat sealed. No glues or staples are used. The material has excellent particle retention and infusion, as well as taste neutrality and a high degree of wet strength. Our pouches will withstand immersion in boiling water indefinitely!

Is there any bleach used on tea pouches?
No. The pulps used in our beverage papers are unbleached. We only use virgin raw materials which comply with the relevant world-wide regulations for manufacture of food contact papers.

Are tea pouches organic?
Our tea pouches comply with the requirements of the current UKROFS standards for organic food production, the standard for packaging materials used for the packaging of organically produced products. The key requirement under these regulations is that the pouches shall not transmit any substances to the foods that may be harmful to human health or affect the organoleptic (sensory) character of the food.
