Dan ScolesMake a Difference Day

Make a Difference Photo

Hello Everyone,

We are celebrating Make a Difference Day this year by helping beautify East Branch Forest Preserve (next door to NOW).  We will meet Saturday, October 25th 2014 from 9am-11am at East Branch Forest Preserve to plant native seed, de-litter the grounds and lakeshore, and remove invasive vegetation.  All friends and family are welcome.  Come out and have some fun and enjoy the Fall colors.  The kids always have a great time.  Volunteers will receive a free shirt (while they last) to say ‘Thank You’ for coming out.

This will be the 16th consecutive year that we have been partnering with the Forest Preserve district and helping to keep East Branch Forest Preserve (our ‘Back Yard’) clean and beautiful.  Join in and be part of this tradition and Make a Difference!

There will be a sign-up sheet in the cafeteria or you can e-mail me.  Waivers are required for any children you bring that are not yours.  Hope to see you there.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Come out and enjoy the fresh air and have some fun! Hope to see you there.

Washington, IL Relief Efforts
Submitted by Chrystal Moulton, Science Dept.

Members of the World Mission Society Church of God, along with fellow co-workers and friends traveled to Washington on December 15th and 22nd, 2013 to help the residents of Washington, IL who lost everything in the tornadoes just before Thanksgiving. They donated clothes and food to victims and sorted and cleaned up debris from the destruction. About 150 church members from surrounding states, including two branches in Naperville and Bloomingdale, drove down to help.

Thank you to all the NOW employees who donated their time, food and clothing to help with the relief efforts. Your support helped make our efforts truly successful.

Unwanted/Expired Medication Disposal Programs

Here is a new program for the responsible disposal of expired and unused Rx medications. Long-standing practices of disposing Rx medications in the garbage or flushing them in the toilet are no longer considered environmentally safe since these substances are not taken out (or treated) at wastewater treatment facilities and they can leach out from landfills. Recent scientific studies have discovered numerous Rx medications in waterways and fish.

If you have old or unused medications, please use these free services listed below and help keep Rx medications out of our drinking water, rivers, lakes, and fish.  Read More...
