Over the past decade, NOW Foods has significantly increased our environmental efforts. Looking forward, we will continue to explore new ways to reduce our carbon footprint while setting an example for others.  

NOW Presented with 2011 Illinois Governors Sustainability Award:

NOW is pleased to announce we’ve been awarded the 2011 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award. This marks the fourth consecutive year that NOW has been a recipient of this award. NOW is one of only six companies in Illinois to be awarded with the 2011 Continuous Improvement recognition for on-going sustainability efforts.

The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC), in cooperation with the Office of the Governor, has honored organizations for their efforts in sustainability and pollution prevention since 1987. Sustainability is achieved through activities that satisfy today's needs without diminishing the prospects of future generations. ISTC (and NOW) believes that the key to sustainability is being less wasteful with materials, energy, and natural and community resources. "These businesses and organizations have shown that it is possible to create and maintain conditions under which people and the environment can exist in productive harmony, and fulfill the social and economic requirements of present and future generations," said Manohar Kulkarni, ISTC Director

NOW Receives 2010 Illinois Governors Sustainability Award:

I have the pleasure of announcing that NOW Foods has received a 2010 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award. This marks the third consecutive year that NOW has been a recipient of this award. NOW is one of only seven companies in Illinois to be awarded with the 2010 Continuous Improvement recognition for on-going sustainability efforts.

NOW's Sustainability Progress:

• Water conservation projects save over 1.3 million gallons of water per year
• Energy efficient lighting saves over 600,000 k Wh/hrs annually.
• We recycle over 400 tons of material annually.
• We recycle 100% of our E-waste (obsolete electronics) to protect groundwater.
• We switched to 100% recycled content shipping boxes saving over 12,000 trees annually.
• For over a decade, NOW employees have helped maintain our local forest preserve by holding volunteer clean-up and planting days.

NOW Participated in the 2010 2nd Annual Cantigny Green Fair

On Saturday September 25th, NOW Foods participated in the 2nd Annual Cantigny Green Fair, an outdoor consumer event focused on environmental education, held at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois.  NOW is committed to environmental responsibility and sustainability.  The Green Fair affords us the opportunity to educate the local community about the steps we're taking as a manufacturer to lessen our impact on the environment.  The event was a big success with over 75 exhibiting vendors and over 4200 attendees. NOW Receives 2009 Illinois Governor's Sustainability Award for Continuous Improvement

NOW Foods was recognized by the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center at the University of Illinois with the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award.

NOW Receives Hawk Award

2009 marks the 10th consecutive year that NOW Foods has hosted Forest Preserve volunteer events that involve natural resource and habitat restoration projects, as well as de-littering efforts at the East Branch Forest Preserve. In recognition of this milestone, NOW has been honored by the Illinois DuPage Forest Preserve District at their annual volunteer appreciation banquet with the “Hawk Award”, commemorating 10 years of volunteer service and overall commitment to the environment. On October 23, 2008 NOW Foods received the Illinois Governor’s Pollution Prevention Award. This esteemed award recognizes businesses who protect Illinois’ environment through outstanding pollution prevention measures.
