NOW is pleased to announce we’ve been awarded the 2011 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award. This marks the fourth consecutive year that NOW has been a recipient of this award. NOW is one of only six companies in Illinois to be awarded with the 2011 Continuous Improvement recognition for on-going sustainability efforts.
The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC), in cooperation with the Office of the Governor, has honored organizations for their efforts in sustainability and pollution prevention since 1987. Sustainability is achieved through activities that satisfy today's needs without diminishing the prospects of future generations. ISTC (and NOW) believes that the key to sustainability is being less wasteful with materials, energy, and natural and community resources. "These businesses and organizations have shown that it is possible to create and maintain conditions under which people and the environment can exist in productive harmony, and fulfill the social and economic requirements of present and future generations," said Manohar Kulkarni, ISTC Director.
